Year 8 Triathlon

A huge congratulations to everyone who competed in our Year 8 triathlon.  Luckily we had fantastic weather and everyone had a great day!  A special congrats to Jamie who won the girls individual race and to Flynn who came 3rd in the boys. :) Here are some pics from the day, and also a fantastic piece of writing - thank you Anna for sharing your thoughts on the triathlon.

The sun was beating down. Butterflies turned into bees. Go! The first unlucky wave was off. Like a stormy sea the water sloshed against the sides, of the once calm childless pool. They lifted themselves out of the battered pool. Go! The second wave was off. My stomach felt like the water. The waves went quick and now it was my turn to be afraid. We got up onto the firing line. My legs were shaking. Staring down at the made me calm. Like a wonky torpedo I hit the water. My goggles came loose but I kept going. My legs were screaming for mercy. But I wasn’t going to give them it. The pool dash was over and now wearily I made my way to the bikes. My lungs were bursting. And like a cheetah I made for the hills. Or you could say like a turtle. My bike touched the grass of the rugby field. As I strained my back I went over a bump. It knocked me back to sense. But the worse wasn’t over yet. After the first lap the red lights were on fuel low. Energy level low, energy to keep going low. Second lap down. The sun seemed to target me. Like a big bull fight. Every time I waved red. It smashed into me. Third lap done. Now I was halfway between energised to dead battery. Now to follow the yellow bread crumbs home. Slamming my bike down now came the part were I will make it or be taken home in a doggy bag. My legs like jelly and my head pounding. This was it.

Week 3 Homework

After all your hard work on your ME Project you can relax a little this week with homework :)
As I said in class all that is required of you this week is to become a follower on our class blog (if you can) and make a comment on this post.
How have you found being a Year 8 student so far?  What's different from Year 7?  What are you looking forward to most this year? (You can say Berwick Camp of course but try and think of some other things!)  Please make sure you check your spelling and punctuation.
Happy Blogging!!

Room 8 Class Councillors

After some fantastic speeches to the class, Room 8 have elected their class councillors for the year.... Congratulations to Kiriana and Louis (deputy).  I'm sure you will do a great job!

It was great reading your letters to me and learning more about you.
As you know we have a busy first term ahead - lots to look forward to and lots of learning.
Please make sure you come and see me, or email me if you have any questions about homework or anything else happening in Room 8.
